.ACADEMIC COLLABORATION with Foreign Universities 

IMU at its Head Quarters in Chennai and at its Cochin Campus offers two year M.B.A in Port and Shipping Management. This programme is offered on semester pattern and the odd semester is August – December and the even semester is January – July. The proposal is to have collaboration between IMU and NMU in conducting this programme

The Vice Chancellor Dr.P.Vijayan visited Netherlands Maritime University with a Proposal by IMU to forge a collaborative program to benefit students of MBA Port & Shipping Management at IMU. He met and held discussions with   Mr. Ton Van Essen, Director at STC Group Holding; Erik Hietbrink, Chairman & CEO, STC Group Holding; Sander Wubbolts, Project Manager, STC Group Holding.

OUTCOME OF DISCUSSIONS HELD 

• Netherlands Maritime University (NMU) is one which has a world wide presence as STC group and offers myriad maritime courses all over the globe.
• NMU offers the course Master Shipping and Transport on both a full time and part time basis.
• MBA in Port and Shipping, COC oriented courses and pilot training courses can be offered at IMU campus with full support from STC, Netherlands Maritime University.

Meeting at  ITMMA - University of Antwerp

The Vice Chancellor met Prof. Dr. Theo Notteboom President, ITMMA & a Team of Research Fellows,  Wout Dullaert, Associate Professor, Operations & Logistics Management, ITMMA

IMU at its Head Quarters in Chennai offers the two year M.B.A in International Transportation and Logistics Management. This programme is offered on semester pattern and the odd semester is August – December and the even semester is January – July. The proposal is to have collaboration between IMU and ITMMA in conducting this MBA programme. Prof Theo Notteboom was expressly interested in following up the proposal and has promised to follow it up with a detailed discussion with his faculty. ITMMA offers Postgraduate diploma course in Transport & Logistics Management. As subjects are parallel to the MBA program offered at IMU and hence the option of campus exchange or option for IMU students to complete their Semester III in Antwerp was found feasible.
